After five years of construction, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the world's highest rail-link, begins operation. The first passenger train on the Railway set off the morning of July 1st, 2006. Two trains were launched after the opening ceremony. One started at Qinghai heading to Tibet; one is started from Tibet heading to Qinghai. The world's highest railway is a testament to human ingenuity. The project has encountered many problems, among them, high altitude, a fragile ecology, and thin oxygen. China's west is renowned for its mysterious beauty. In the past, many of its natural wonders have been almost impossible to reach. But with the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet railway, this is all about to change. Tibet is the last of Mainland's 31 administrative regions to have a railway. This has kept it isolated, to some degree, for a long time. And with the Qinghai-Tibet railway now ready to roll, locals see the opportunities waiting far away. The 1,100-kilometer railway from Golmud in Qinghai Province to Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is the highest rail route in the world. American pop group N.K.O.T.B.(New Kids On The Block) released their 4th album entitled Face The Music on January 25th, 1994. Featuring title songs Dirty Dawg, If You Go Away. Members include Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre. They showed a remarkable musical maturity -- they were a credible urban R&B outfit -- but hardly sold anything, even if they were packing theaters on tour. In June, the band announced that it had acrimoniously parted ways and all of the members were now pursuing solo careers. International version contains a bonus track named Dawgappella. It was time when the music industry is all about grunge and gangsta rap; looking back, the timing probably couldn't have been any worse. While the comeback was ultimately a failure (Jon Knight had bowed out early on, leaving the group as a foursome), they were certainly able to offer music lovers one last album of their best material. Chinese rock band Beyond released their 10th album entitled Rock And Roll/樂與怒 in May 1993. Featuring hit songs I'm Rage/我是憤怒, Ocean Wide/海闊天空, Love One/情人. The one and only greatest musician ever in Hong Kong passed away on June 30th, under the young age of 31. Even though the band may not lasted for long under the unhealthy atmosphere of the society, their music once shocked the whole Asia did not ever passed away. In fact, no people in Hong Kong has made such a success as Beyond did even until present days. Wong Ka-kui/黃家駒 is not just the core member of the group, but also the leading person of Chinese music industry, who's musical talent is too deep and far away from the other people that no one can went beyond him yet and in the possible future. The band is highly appreciated after joining some musical events. Their final line up is a pentatonic band, in which the 5th member Lau Chi-yuen/劉志遠 left the group in 1989. The legend begins in May 1983. Beyond at that time was only Yip Sai-wing/葉世榮(drummer), Wong Ka-kui/黃家駒(vocal & composer), and Lau Chi-yuen/劉志遠(keyboard).
